* Vyyo makes series of management appointments
Vyyo announced a series of promotions and personnel additions aimed at strengthening its marketing, sales, engineering, and accounting functions.
Tee Harton, previously director of sales engineering, has been promoted to vice president of marketing for cable solutions. Eli Barshishat was promoted to manager of technical product marketing from senior sales engineer. Integration lab manager Keven Adams, formerly with ARRIS, joined Vyyo as director of XMTS product marketing.
Dan Paone, senior director of engineering support and product management, will be responsible for all sales engineering functions. Kameron Cultice has been promoted to manager, field service engineering.
Mary Mansson has been promoted to director of marketing from marketing manager.
Chuck Massey has joined Vyyo as corporate controller after more than 25 years with such companies as Peachtree Software, Alcoa, MetalSpectrum and McGladrey.
* Cablevision’s VoIP certified for security
Cablevision’s Optimum Voice was recognized by ADT Security Services, a unit of Tyco Fire & Security, as a primary method of alarm transmission to ADT’s 24-hour customer monitoring centers. ADT announced it would regard some of Cox’s telephony services as well (see “Cox now offers Digital Telephone service in all its markets” above).
* Wave7 to provide Auburn, Ind. with FTTP network
Wave7 Optics said the City of Auburn, Ind. has selected its Trident7 Optical Access Platform for a new municipal FTTP network. Construction will begin this month. City schools are expected to be connected by the end of November. A second phase beginning in 1Q 2007 will provide telephone and high-speed data services to all of the City’s business districts, including more than 1,200 homes and businesses. Deployment is expected to be complete by the end of 2007.
During the final stages of this phase, the City will evaluate and determine whether to offer similar services to all residents.
* Broadband National to help SunRocket customers find broadband
Internet phone service provider SunRocket entered a joint marketing alliance with Broadband National.
SunRocket can steer prospective customers who do not subscribe to broadband, to Broadband National’s comparative shopping service, which lists over 50 local, regional and national broadband providers. Once consumers select a broadband service, they can then sign up for SunRocket VoIP through dedicated links on Broadband National’s Web site.
