* SCTE promotes two
The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers has promoted Loaida Rodriguez and Heather Gosciniak to the position of manager of their respective departments.
Rodriguez, who joined SCTE in June 2001, now serves as manager, accounting and payroll.
Gosciniak joined SCTE in May 2004 as marketing coordinator, and will continue to prepare, track and coordinate Society materials. In her new role, she will also take on increasing levels of responsibilities for SCTE’s marketing and business development projects.
* Everstream hires pro services director
Everstream, a division of Concurrent Computer Corp. that specializes in data collection, audience measurement and dynamic advertising, has hired Tom Parker to the newly-created post of director of professional services.
In that role, Parker will oversee Everstream’s professional services team, and manage customer requests for product extensions, custom projects and platform integration efforts.
Parker is late of Quilogy Inc., a closely held technology solutions consulting organization.
Everstream, which has deployments with operators such as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and J:COM of Japan, was purchased in late 2005 by Concurrent for about $15 million.
* RGB names IPTV sales director
RGB Networks has hired Robert Weinbaum to be its National Sales Director, Telco Division. Weinbaum will focus on working with U.S. and Canadian telecommunications providers in the emerging telco video services delivery market, helping to provide advanced IPTV solutions. Weinbaum most recently served as sales director at Amdocs.
* 13 ($million) is lucky number for BridgePort Networks
BridgePort Networks received an infusion of $13 million from current investors.
This investment brings the total capital raised by the company to $51 million. Funds will be used for working capital.
The company said it intends to support its channel partners and other integrators who are currently in market trials of the company’s NomadicONE core network convergence software at various telecom service providers. The NomadicONE aims to provide seamless voice handover between cellular and Wi-Fi technologies.
* ICTV to demo mosaic, IPTV on-demand
ICTV will demonstrate its ActiveVideo platform at the Telco TV Conference and Expo beginning today in Dallas.
The featured applications will be ActiveVideo Mosaic, a customizable, personalized mosaic for video-rich navigation, and ActiveVideo Channels, which enable existing broadband programming networks to be delivered to the TV in real time on an on-demand basis.
ICTV will also demonstrate a variety of ActiveVideo Advertising solutions.
ActiveVideo was recently selected by PCCW to enable interactive channels via television to all 654,000 subscribers of PCCW’s IPTV service in Hong Kong.
