* Sunrise Telecom names president/GM of Telecom Products Group
Test equipment maker Sunrise Telecom has hired former Tektronix exec Gerhard J. Beenen to be president and general manager for its Telecom Products Group. That group designs and develops test sets that enable Sunrise Telecom customers to deliver next-generation broadband services. At Tek, Beenen was GM of the communications network analyzer product line, and vice president of Central Engineering, responsible for advanced technology development, IP management, semiconductor manufacturing operations, and communications network analyzer products.
* Argentine provider taps Sandvine for DPI
Sandvine signed up Argentinean broadband provider Gigared as a customer. Sandvine’s Argentinean-based partner, Esco Cable, will provide Gigared with local market expertise, consulting services, product implementation and support for Sandvine’s deep packet inspection (DPI)-based policy solutions.
* Askey building IP phones, gateways around TI chips
Askey Computer will use voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) silicon and software from Texas Instruments in its IP phones and residential and enterprise gateways. The first IP phone from Askey and first two gateways (one for enterprise customers, one for residential) incorporating TI technology are all currently in production.
* C-COR hires cable vet for strategic accounts
C-COR has appointed cable industry veteran Bob Greiner to the position of vice president of strategic accounts, concentrating on Comcast. Greiner has put in 40 years in the cable industry. Most recently he was SVP of sales at Promptu. Prior to that, Greiner held executive positions at Kasenna, DIVA Systems, and other companies.
