* Real plays sweet music on the Web
RealNetworks has taken its digital music act to the Web with the launch of Rhapsody.com.
In addition to allowing about 1.3 million Rhapsody subs to tap the service’s music library without downloading the traditional PC jukebox application, the new Web Services initiative from Real will enable third-party Web sites to access the Rhapsody service.
The site also marks the first time Rhapsody has become available to Mac and Linux users, the company said.
* QoSmetrics monitors IPTV at the set-top
QoSmetrics is offering its “V-Factor” IPTV quality assurance technology to set-top vendors.
QoSmetrics’ platform traditionally probed the service provider’s network, but enabling the integration of V-Factor in the set-top environment places IPTV performance measurements in the customer’s home, the company said.
QoSmetrics noted that it is presently undergoing a beta trial with one manufacturer yet to be disclosed.
