* WISP taps Ellacoya for IP control
Chaska.net, a wireless Internet service provider in Minnesota, will get a better handle on bandwidth consumption via Ellacoya Networks’ IP Service Control System.
The system will help Chaska.net tap into subscriber usage and manage traffic loads on its wireless network, which is powered by the Tropos Networks MetroMesh platform.
Chaska.net said it enlisted the Ellacoya system after a small percentage of subscribers were eating disproportionate chunks of bandwidth.
Chaska.net, run by the city of Chaska, has about 2,200 subscribers.
* ZiLOG finds home in ARRIS eMTAs
ZiLOG Inc. said ARRIS will use ZiLOG’s new Z9 Encore! XP microprocessor inside the Touchstone Telephony Modem TM502, a new embedded multimedia terminal adapter (eMTA).
The role of the microprocessor is to manage the functional block dedicated to monitoring, testing and charging the unit’s Lithium batteries, which offer either four or eight hours of power backup.
