* Harmonic bows deep fiber node
Harmonic Inc. has introduced the PWRBlazer HLN 3812H, a high-output node designed for the construction and expansion of deep fiber networks that expand bandwidth for services such as high-definition television and video-on-demand.
Harmonic said the new node can support multiple service groups without new fiber by leveraging wave division multiplexing (WDM) transmission technologies.
Harmonic’s latest entrant is a two-port node supporting one optical receiver module and one return path transmitter.
* Pineland weaves fiber with ADC
Pineland Telephone Cooperative, a local telephony exchange carrier based in Florida, is moving ahead on a fiber project in conjunction with ADC.
The deployment features ADC’s OmniReach Fiber Distribution Hub (FDH), a high-density enclosure that can support 216- and 432-fiber configurations. Pineland is deploying the FDH enclosures between the feeder and distribution segments of its network.
Pineland serves more than 13,000 access lines from 10 exchanges, and provides services to about 30 rural communities and counties in the state.
