* Three join Nortel IMS developer program
Nortel announced BEA Systems, IP Unity Glenayre, and Vantrix have become partners in its IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Developer Program. The program is designed to accelerate interoperability and convergence across wireless, wireline and cable networks and to provide a more compelling communication experience for users, regardless of their network connection or device.
* Synacor’s technology to power VirginMedia.com
Synacor is backing up the launch of Virgin Media by supporting Virgin’s Web site with its content management system. Synacor’s tools will allow Virgin Media to make many online premium content packages and other applications available from virginmedia.com as part of its online services.
* Sunrise Broadband buys a system; combines units
Sunrise Broadband Group (SBG) subsidiary NexHorizon of Colorado completed its acquisition of assets and customers in Southeast Colorado from Champion Cable. SBG has been buying up smaller cable operators for over a year. At the same time, SBG said it would combine its two subsidiaries under the NexHorizon name. The completion of the transaction will leave Sunrise Broadband Group Inc. a shell, with the intent to bring in a new management team and business plan later this year.
