* Dreamline picks Ciena
Korea-based broadband service provider Dreamline Co. Ltd. said it will power a new range of Ethernet services with Ciena Corp.’s CN 4200 FlexSelect Platform.
Dreamline will tap the gear as part of a plan to improve the performance of its backbone network, and an upgrade to support services beyond 2.5G.
The company, which is using the CN 4200 on its DWDM backbone to carry TDM and Ethernet traffic, is a competitive carrier with more than 24,000 km of fiber deployed in S. Korea.
* Cox adopts workforce management tool for contractors
Cox Communications will use TOA Technologies’ software service, ETAdirect, to manage its entire contracted technician workforce. Cox said it chose TOA’s on-demand Mobile Workforce and Customer Appointment Management solution not only for its utility, but also because it integrated with its CRM system.
* ARRIS opens R&D center in China
ARRIS has opened an R&D center in China, complementing the three it has in Atlanta, Ga.; Chicago, Ill.; and Cork, Ireland. The new lab is attached to its Chinese enterprise, ARRIS Technology (Shenzhen) Company, in Shenzhen. The Center’s mission is to support ARRIS in providing technology for the Asia-Pacific region’s cable operators.
“With the addition of our R&D Center, we are better equipped to compete in this exciting marketplace by improving our time to market, increasing our ability to scale development teams and localize our products for the Region,” said Hubert Wo, director of ARRIS Technology Company, in a statement.
