* Four join MoCA; Entropic supports Moto with MoCA technology
Tellabs, Fujitsu Network Communications, JDSU (formerly JDS Uniphase), and Entrisphere, have joined the Multimedia over Coax Alliance. MoCA aims to enable home networking through the coax cable that already exists in most newer homes in the U.S.
Separately, Entropic announced Motorola will use Entropic’s c.LINK-TM 270 chipset as a key component of the home media networking features of the Motorola QIP and DCT advanced series digital video set-tops.Motorola set-tops with the Entropic chips will enable multi-room video and content sharing without the need for additional cabling or installations.
* ITC^DeltaCom to use Genband’s media gateway
Genband announced that ITC^DeltaCom has selected its G6Universal Media Gateway to grow its packet telephony service offering.
* EarthLink selected to build wireless network in Milpitas
EarthLink has signed a contract to build a Wi-Fi broadband network for the City of Milpitas, Calif. The Wi-Fi mesh network, which will cover an area of approximately 6.5 square miles, will provide open Internet access for municipal workers and residents.
* Telsima launches suite of WiMAX products
Telsima Corp. introduced a line of carrier-grade WiMAX products for wireless broadband access. The StarMAX line includes base stations, subscriber stations, a network management system, a provisioning system and an RF planning & network design tool. The products are aimed for the market in India.
