* Sunrise Broadband buys Eagle Vision
Sunrise Broadband Group has inked a deal to acquire a “wireless” cable television operator based in southwest Colorado from Eagle Vision LLC. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Sunrise said it plans to upgrade the network with fiber and rebrand it under the Sunrise name. It will also use the system to test planned VoIP, video-on-demand, and high-speed data services.
Sunrise Broadband Group is based in Broomfield, Colo.
* Whaleback adds sales veep
IP PBX system specialist Whaleback Systems has hired John McCarthy as vice president of sales.
In that role, he will head up direct and indirect sales of Whaleback’s CrystalBlue Voice Service for small- and medium-sized businesses, which can be delivered via high-speed cable or DSL connections.
McCarthy most recently served in a similar role at Computer Associates. Before that, he was CEO and president of Vitel Software.
* Level 3 levels up Q1 projections
Level 3 Communications said it will meet or exceed Q1 projections, thanks to improved performance of its communications division and progress with its integration of WilTel Communications.
Level 3 raised its Q1 consolidated adjusted OIBDA from $550 million to $600 million, to $600 million to $650 million. The company also goosed its 2006 net cash interest expense projections from $505 million to $520 million.
