• HaiVision hires Snow as vice president of operations

HaiVision Systems, a vendor of H.264 network video codecs, announced that Rick Snow was recently hired as the company’s vice president of operations.

Prior to joining HaiVision, Snow was with Hyperchip, which is a developer of core Internet routers and system’s that manage IP backbone infrastructure systems.

HaiVision is a network video supplier to telepresence, medical, broadcast, and audio visual OEM customers and system integrators worldwide.

• Knology signs on with Rentrak

Rentrak entered into a multi-year deal with Knology, adding yet another top 20 video operator as a customer. Knology will use Rentrak’s measurement services as it expands its VOD services.

Rentrak processes daily, census-level on demand data representing 51 million set-top boxes from 26 MSOs with their extensive on demand data being used by more than 100 content provider partners every day to meet their measurement needs. Rentrak said it processed more than 3.3 billion transactions from its operator partners in 2007 – representing a 52 percent increase over the same period for 2006.

• Prysmian intros optical fiber with more flex

Prysmian introduced an optical fiber that reduces the minimum working bend radius, making it easier for installers to work around walls and corners. The company said that in this regard, its CasaLight Plus fiber exceeds the recommendations of the G657.B standard. CasaLight Plus maintains its full compliance with standard equipment, connectors and fibre already installed in accordance with ITU Recommendation G 652.
