* Telmex buys Colombian cable company
Mexican telephone company Telmex bought Colombian cable television operator Superview Telecomunicaciones for about $40 million, or $270 per subscriber. Earlier this year, Telmex bought a license to operate local phone services in Colombia.
* ADC FTTx products listed by RDUP
The Rural Development Utilities Program (RDUP) has approved ADC’s OmniReach Hardened Connectors and Drop Cables for use in telecommunications systems. The ADC products can be purchased and installed using RDUP loans or grants.
* Covad announces business-class VoIP deal
Covad Communications has entered a strategic partnership with VGE (Venture Group Enterprises), a sales and marketing agent whose distribution partners will now be able to sell Covad’s VoIP and broadband solutions to small businesses. VGE will provide back office agent support, account base maintenance, reporting, and sales support.
* Kasenna appoints new vice president of engineering
Kasenna has hired Sanjay Mehta as its vice president of engineering. Most recently, he served as senior director of global systems development at Quantum Corp. Sanjay was also previously senior vice president of engineering at DirecTV Broadband. Kasenna provides an integrated IPTV solution for the telco market.
