* JDSU launches IP video test capability
JDSU added the ability to verify equipment for IPTV and other triple-play service deployments to its digital and IP video test instrument, the DTS-330. The SimulSource IP Video Generation Application helps network equipment manufacturers identify and troubleshoot performance issues before products are shipped. The same tool can be used for stress testing.
* Former Cisco exec joins BroadSoft as product veep
BroadSoft hired David Bukovsky as vice president of products. Much of Bukovsky’s career has revolved around VoIP and SIP-based product management for cable and telephone providers, experience directly relevant to his new position. Bukovsky most recently served as director of product marketing in Cisco’s Broadband Subscriber Applications Business Unit. He previously worked for Bell Atlantic, now Verizon .
* Level 3 finalizes sale of subsidiary
Level 3 Communications completed the sale of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Software Spectrum, to IT company Insight Enterprises. Software Spectrum is a reseller of business software and mobility solutions to large- and medium-sized organizations. The purchase price ended up being $353 million in cash.
