* Telkonet powers powerline broadband installation
Telkonet, a provider of broadband over powerline (BPL) networking systems, has partnered with Ameren Energy Communications and River City Internet Group to deliver broadband Internet access to multi-dwelling units (MDUs) in the Ameren utility companies’ Missouri and Illinois service territories. River City Internet Group (RCIG) will be the ISP. The in-building BPL platform can deliver broadband speeds up to 6 Mbps.
* Jones International extends scholarships to Jones/NCTI grads
More than 82,000 cable workers who have successfully completed a course over the past 38 years from Jones/NCTI (formerly the National Cable Television Institute) will now be eligible for a tuition scholarship of up to 20 percent with Jones International University.
Also, Jones/NCTI graduates who have earned an Associates Degree through the company’s partnership with Arapahoe Community College will be admitted to Jones International University (JIU) with full recognition of credits.
* PureVideo Networks deploys Cisco switch
PureVideo Networks, publisher of the video Web sites StupidVideos.com and GrindTV.com, has adopted the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Switch with the Application Control Engine. The ACE module, in combination with the Catalyst 6500, provides security, application acceleration, and network management capabilities. It was integrated into PureVideo Networks’ network in August.
