U.K. service provider BT today launched its BT Infinity 1 service that offers speeds up to 52 Mbps, which it says is a faster standard fiber service than competitors. By comparison, BT reports that standard entry-level products of Sky Fibre, TalkTalk and Plusnet are up to 38 Mbps broadband and Virgin is up to 50 Mbps broadband.
“Our research has shown that it’s what you can actually do with your broadband that matters most to consumers. We want to give them a faster speed as standard so that everyone in a household can be online at the same time and still enjoy watching their favorite YouTube or HD content without buffering or bickering over whose turn it is,” David McDonald, director of broadband, TV and sport bundles, at BT Consumer, says. “The new, faster BT Infinity 1 service is about giving consumers a premium broadband experience as standard.”
The service is available to new customers for £10 per month for the first 12 months on a 12-month contract. All BT Broadband customers get unlimited access to more than five million WiFi hotspots across the U.K.
