Cable ONE is stepping up its business services play in what many think is an underserved Western U.S. market with the announcement of a new point of presence (POP) launch. It’s in the Equinix Data Center that’s inside the Westin Building Exchange in Seattle, and is reportedly Cable ONE Business’ first POP in the state of Washington. Seattle has a well-established tech market that includes both recognized companies as well as a large slate of startup companies.
Chris Boone, VP of business services for Cable ONE, reports that adding a connection point in the Seattle hub enables the company to decrease latency, reduce hop counts, and increase reliability.
Cable ONE Business says that the Westin Building Exchange is ideally situated in downtown Seattle, a city that features a dense concentration of network, cloud, and IT service providers, and is said to be one of the largest network traffic routes in the country. “Offering more than 60,000 square feet of colocation space, the Westin Building Exchange supplies a full range of premium colocation, interconnection and support services to a wide range of secure digital ecosystems,” Cable ONE notes in a statement.
The new POP will reportedly allow Westin Building Exchange tenants the ability to exchange IP traffic with Cable ONE’s nationwide network. It also provides access to Cable ONE’s IP network through 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports.
In addition to this Seattle announcement, Cable ONE Business has POPs in Boise, Phoenix, Kansas City, Dallas, Corpus Christi, Chicago, and Atlanta.
