Former WOW CEO Steven Cochran is landing back in the cable arena following a brief “self-imposed sabbatical,” joining Cable One effective next month as senior VP and CFO.
Cochran will start at the Phoenix-based cable operator as SVP on Aug. 6 and assume the role of CFO on Aug. 13, succeeding Kevin Coyle who previously announced plans to retire. Coyle will stay on in an advisory role to aid with the transition until the beginning of 2019.
Cochran stepped down as CEO from WOW in December 2017 after spending 15 years at the company. Cochran, who was promoted from CFO to CEO at WOW in 2014, was replaced as chief by telecom veteran Teresa Elder. Cochran had stayed on in an advisory position through June, though his LinkedIn profile still indicates he’s been on a “self-imposed sabbatical” since his departure last year.
During his time at WOW, Cochran led the company during its initial public offering in May 2017. Prior to working at the Denver-based cable operator he served as CFO of Millennium Digital Media, and was previously an accountant at Arthur Andersen.
“I’m very pleased to welcome Steven to the Cable One team,” said Julie Laulis, Cable One president and CEO, in a statement. “His extensive financial, operational and strategic expertise in the cable industry will serve Cable ONE and our stakeholders well. This deep understanding of our holistic business and his competitive experience will allow him to play a key role in driving our long-term success.”
