Cablevision announced this morning that it would add beIN Sports and beIN Sports en Español to its channel lineup.
In order to prime the pump, Cablevision will serve up a free preview of both channels to all of its subscribers March 20-23.
Owned by the Al-Jazeera Sport Media Network, BeIN Sports has the rights to La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Copa del Rey, the South American World Cup Qualifier, the English Championship and other premier soccer tournaments from around the world. The English and Spanish-language networks also feature coverage of the World Cup Qualifiers leading up to the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It also covers other sports such as motorsports, tennis, rugby, volleyball and golf.
“BeIN Sports delivers unique and exciting programming that Optimum TV customers are passionate about. This addition further enhances our rich selection of live sports programming,” said Bradley Feldman, Cablevision’s senior vice president of product management. “Now, Optimum TV soccer fans can catch even more of the world’s most exciting matches as the action happens.”
After the preview ends, beIN Sports will be available to Optimum TV residential customers with either Optimum Gold or the Optimum Sports and Entertainment package. Further, beIN Sports en Español will be available to customers who subscribe to the Optimum en Español Spanish-language programming package.
Authenticated Optimum subscribers will also be able to watch the beIN Sports programming outside of their homes with Cablevision’s TV to Go online service. Customers will be able to stream beIN Sports networks inside and outside of their homes with the Optimum App on their iPad, iPhone or iPod touch devices, Android phones and tablets and Kindle devices.
Other service providers that offer beIN sports programming include DirecTV, Dish Network, AT&T, Comcast, Cox Communications, Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks.
