Cablevision appears to be filling the void that was created by the exit of several high-level executives, this time from within as Yvette Kanouff was promoted to executive vice president of corporate engineering and technology.
Kanouff worked her way up to president at SeaChange International prior to leaving the company in February. (In a cost-cutting move, SeaChange eliminated the position of president after Kanouff’s departure.)
She landed at Cablevision in March as its executive vice president of engineering and software design. Upon her arrival, she reported to James Blackley, executive vice president of corporate engineering and technology, and Wilt Hildenbrand, senior advisor for engineering and technology, but the same month, Blackley left Cablevision.
Ever since former chief operating officer Tom Rutledge left Cablevision in December, the cable operator has seen a steady stream of high-level executives leave, and some have landed with Rutledge at Charter.
In her new position, Kanouff continues to report to Hildenbrand, and her expanded role includes software; hardware for video, data and VoIP; active network components and operations; architecture; and IT.
“Yvette is a highly talented technologist with a well-deserved reputation in our industry for her knowledge of hardware and software development,” Hildenbrand said. “She has been a strong addition to Cablevision’s management team, and we are pleased that she is expanding her role at the company to our engineering and technology groups.”
Kanouff is now responsible for the implementation of the company’s strategic technology and critical engineering objectives, as well as identifying emerging technology opportunities that enable Cablevision to provide cutting-edge services and secure prevalence in the market through the effective use of advanced technologies.
In addition, she will oversee the development and integration of new products for the company, from conceptualization to implementation, as well as the design of mechanisms to enable customer feedback. She will also be responsible for the integration, testing and deployment of support systems for internal use and the selection of appropriate frameworks and standards for internal technology development efforts.
Prior to joining SeaChange in 1997, Kanouff served as Time Warner Cable’s director of interactive technologies, where she was responsible for managing technical departments, including system integration, software quality, advanced network technologies and system software for the world’s first digital interactive television and video-on-demand launch.
Kanouff has been an active participant in cable industry organizations such as the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, where she served as chairperson and on the board of directors, and Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT).
