Cabovisão is using Nagra’s content protection system to secure premium content on its next-generation pay-TV service.
Cabovisão had earlier turned to OpenTV, Nagra’s sister company under the Kudelski umbrella, to provide middleware for its interactive cable and IPTV services.
The Portuguese service provider is using Nagra’s MediaAcess, the vendor said.
Referring to Nagra, Cabovisão director general João Zúquete da Silva said, “They not only provided us with the technology we needed to grow our business, but allowed us to deploy our services to subscribers in record time – this was critical in helping us meet customer demand.”
Nagra MediaAccess is Nagra’s family of core content protection technologies and is endorsed by major Hollywood studios and other digital television rights holders. Nagra said it has been deployed by 120 service providers worldwide.
Cabovisão currently serves more than 260,000 cable subscribers.
