Calix was given an important federal designation that will allow some of its smaller customers to apply for federal support for broadband network upgrades.
Calix received Rural Development (RD) Telecommunications acceptance from the Rural Utilities Service division of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for its recently announced E7 Ethernet Service Access Platform (ESAP).
The RUS listing means that communications service providers (CSPs) deploying Calix’s equipment will have access to RUS loans funded to promote the deployment of broadband services throughout the U.S., with a special emphasis on rural development.
With the E7 achieving formal acceptance from the RUS, the entire Calix Unified Access portfolio across the C- and E-Series access platforms and the P-Series optical network terminals is now RUS-accepted.
Calix’s E7 is an extensible, standards-based Ethernet service access platform that offers CSPs a modular, chassis-based option to deliver services, including video.
