Calix is making it easier for its customers to target business customers of their own with the introduction of a suite of software products to support business services, along with carrier Ethernet service assurance capability, which enables Calix customers to guarantee performance under service-level agreements (SLAs).
The company’s E7 Ethernet Service Access Platform (ESAP) and associated network terminals and management systems now support industry-standard Ethernet operations, administration and maintenance (OAM).
OAM tools – available on any member of the Calix 760GX ONT family when deployed in conjunction with software release 1.2 on the Calix E7 ESAP – allow Calix customers to monitor, manage and report on SLAs they sell to their commercial customers. In addition, CMS can now provision and activate Y.1731 performance monitoring, 802.1ag fault management and RFC2544 out-of-service testing by enabling Calix 760GX ONTs to function as remote test heads and RFC2544 “reflectors.”
At the same time, Calix introduced a suite of software applications, together called Compass, designed to help communications service providers target business customers.
Flow Analyzer, the first Compass application to market, is a real-time traffic flow analysis tool, delivering up-to-the-minute information about bandwidth utilization viewed on a per-service, per-subscriber, per-location or per-interface basis.
Future Compass suite elements will contain a wide variety of applications addressing service provider capital or operational efficiencies and new service opportunities, including:
- Finding new revenue opportunities
- Driving enhanced subscriber satisfaction
- Optimizing network resources
- Reducing the costs of service delivery.
