Camiant and SeaChange International have integrated the former’s Universal Edge Resource Manager (UERM) and the latter’s Axiom On Demand open content delivery system. The combination provides cable operators the ability to manage their QAM resources for standard definition and high definition (HD) VOD programming.
The companies said their combined solution works in both Cisco/Scientific-Atlanta and Motorola headends.
Camiant’s UERM enables operators deploying VOD and other video applications to use their QAM resources more efficiently by performing QAM sharing, thereby freeing up bandwidth. SeaChange’s VOD systems are also fully managed. The integration allows SeaChange to leverage Camiant’s policy-based UERM, providing cable operators with edge resource management to directly control the delivery of rich quality of service to video subscribers.
Camiant vice president of business development Randy Fuller said, “This integration, which is in trial at multiple customer sites, is further testament that applications can share QAMs successfully for bandwidth recovery and greater efficiency. This in turn means customers can be offered a greater breadth of programming than ever before.”
