The big game isn’t until Sunday, but eager viewers can already catch some of the ads scheduled to run in the year’s most highly anticipated commercial lineup.
Thirteen brands, including Acura, Axe, Heintz Ketchup, Honda, LG Televisions, Mini, Pokemon and Shock Top, have pre-released full versions of their 2016 Super Bowl ads.
Among these, Pokemon is one of 15 brands that will air their first Super Bowl ad this year, according to ad-tracker iSpot.tv. Others include Amazon Echo, Buick, Colgate, LG, PayPal, Shock Top and Quicken Loans. The figure marks the largest number of new Super Bowl advertisers since 2000.
The decision to pre-release its game-day ad is already paying big for Pokemon, which is running an ad to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
According to iSpot.tv metrics, Pokemon’s ad – dubbed Pokemon 20 – has garnered a whopping 40 percent of digital engagement surrounding pre-released Super Bowl ads and already drawn more than 11 million views.
Though only a handful have let loose their full ads, a total of nearly 40 brands have released 67 Super Bowl-related ads or teasers so far, according to iSpot.tv figures.
As of Tuesday, the ads and teasers had collectively drawn 204.1 million TV impressions and 149.5 million total digital views across Facebook, iSpot.tv and Youtube, iSpot said.
Around $8 million has been spent on nearly 1,600 ad airings, 368 of which are in primetime. Those figures are down from ad spending of $9.2 million on 1,150 airings with 279 in primetime.
