Television broadcasters CBS and Warner Bros. are considering the creation of their own paid streaming service aimed at youthful subscribers, Bloomberg reported.
According to the report, the service would include content from the broadcasters’ jointly-owned CW network and would be available for a low monthly fee of $2 to $4. The new service would allow the companies to further monetize the network’s content, which is popular among younger viewers.
According to the Bloomberg report, compensation would be offered to CW affiliated stations for permitting the use of CW content on the web.
Both CBS and Time Warner already offer online services in the form of CBS All Access and HBO Now.
The consideration comes as the CW’s contracts with Tribune Media, Netflix and Hulu are set to expire soon, the report indicated.
