CED Product Showcase
Simulsat: The Multibeam Advantage
ATCi’s Simulsat continues to dominate the multibeam market. Simulsat has the capacity to receive signals from 35 satellites at the same time. Available in 3 size and performance variations, Simulsat takes up less space than two parabolic antennas. In addition, as new satellites launch, new programming options appear, or existing satellites are moved, a simple change of feed location is all it takes. For more information: Click here.
Trilithic’s 860 DSPi Only Gets Better
The 860 DSPi’s remarkable evolution includes extremely attractive new features, such as high speed throughput (up to 40 Mbps); 16/64 QAMsource for upstream analysis; unsolicited grant service implementation for VoIP RTP testing; in-service CSO/CTB testing with a 3rd party line blanker; 8VSB signal analysis; and VITS testing. These features merely complement an unprecedented range of test functions in an adaptable cable application specific field analyzer, including full system sweep to 1 GHz, return alignment, and ingress analysis capabilities. For more information: Click here.
The NEW Digital Quality Index
The New Digital Quality Index, only available from JDSU, catches digital errors better and faster than other traditional digital measurements, allowing installers to go a step further and detect impairments below the threshold at which digital video is corrupted. DQI is a real-time measurement and often catches impairments that are masked by the correction capability of QAM receiver components or the burst protection capability of deep interleaving. DQI is software enabled and is currently available on any DSAM with DOCSIS® 2.0 hardware and shipped with firmware v3.2 or greater. To find out more, watch the webcast titled Digital Measurements Revisited on the webcast page of JDSU.com Click here.
ViewTEQ to Introduce New Headend Product Solutions
The supperior performance line of headend products now includes a new modular headend amplifier system (Model LMCA-101). The 1RU configuration is cost-effective and allows installation of four amplifiers. The UHP-101 is a universal chassis which can populate two amplifiers and two MCP Series modular passives. The auto balancing, logic-based MCS-112 A/B switch is technician friendly and deisgned for simple setup. Also now available, Model IRC-316, which enhances the IRC series of return path combiners. Sycamore Networks – Bandwidth Optimization for Voice Service Platforms
For cable operators delivering voice services, Sycamore DNX Multiservice Cross-Connects:

  • Optimize port utilization on VoIP gateways, routers, and switches, reducing service delivery costs
  • Maximize the switching/routing capacity utilization of service platforms, driving additional savings

DNX platforms are right-sized for initial deployments, yet scalable for service expansion. From fractional T1/E1 through OC-3/STM-1, DNX solutions reliably perform cross-connect, traffic grooming and concentration, and diagnostic functions in networks worldwide. For more information: Click here.

BigBand Switched Broadcast
BigBand Switched Broadcast the company’s gourth generation switched digital video solution has been commercially deployed in a cable systems across the U.S., and passees more than six million house holds. BigBand’s open solution supports a wide variety of set-top and electronic programming quide environments, and can be deployed in 90 days or less.

Trilithic’s Spectrum QAM Analyzer
This high performance analyzer can be used anywhere in the cable network to analyze digital, analog and base-band video signals with speed and precision. The familiar and intuitive interface provides a helpful mix of automation and user interaction for fast, precise measurements as well as in-depth signal quality analyses. With applications built into the 8821Q spectrum analyzer that span a full range of HFC measurements, analytical reports and proof tests, the 8821Q is a Cable system workhorse. Call 800-344-2412 or: Click here.
The First Truly Universal QAM Modulator
With unmatched capabilities, RGB’s Universal Scalable Modulator (USM) is raising the bar for QAM modulation. Ideal for broadcast, VOD and SDV applications, the USM breaks the density barrier, supporting up to 128 x 6 MHz QAM channels in 1RU. It is also the first QAM modulator to allow “pay-as-you-grow” density upgrades through software licensing, as well as multi-level redundancy options for high reliability and support for both 10GigE and GigE interfaces. For more information: Click here.
1 GHz Bandwidth Upgrade for BLE Line Extender
CableServ offers the most cost-effective solution to expand bandwidth. CableServ can upgrade 750 and 870 MHz GI / Motorola JLX and BLE Line Extenders to 1002 MHz. The cost per line extender is a fraction of new 1 GHz line extenders. Bandwidth upgrades are also available for MBs and BTDs, as products from other manufacturers, including, Scientific Atlanta, C-COR and others. For more information: Click here.

June 2022 Special Edition: Test & Measurement Handbook

A frequency you can count on There are few constants in life, but what few there are might include death, taxes, and a U.S. grid frequency that doesn’t vary by more than ±0.5 Hz. However, the certainty of the grid frequency is coming into question, thanks to the rising percentage of renewable energy sources that…
