CenturyLink has deployed enhancements to its private cloud service, with a new data center model at its foundation.
The company indicates it’s updating the architecture of its Dedicated Cloud Compute Foundation, which is based on VMware cloud Foundation, moving to a converged software-defined data center model. It uses high-performance HPE ProLiant servers.
CenturyLink says this will help businesses overcome hurdles such lengthy provisioning, configuration errors, and expensive processes by automating labor-intensive functions.
The service will also allow businesses to run vital applications with the nimbleness and simplicity of a public cloud while preserving the predictability, security, and performance of a dedicated infrastructure, CenturyLink says.
“With today’s digital economy fueling increased demands on IT infrastructure, the latest enhancements to our Dedicated Cloud Compute (DCC) service, based on VMware Cloud Foundation, build on CenturyLink’s proficiency in helping enterprises in their digital transformation,” David Shacochis, VP of hybrid IT product management at CenturyLink, comments. “With this service, businesses can rapidly deploy new workloads and innovations in an easily scalable, highly secure environment.”
CenturyLink indicates that the DCC Foundation delivers: reduced security risks, flexible deployment options globally, agile enterprise applications with hybrid cloud, and predictable performance.
The new offering has been rolled out to customers across 32 hosting locations on four continents, including in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
