Charter Communications has signed off on a new retransmission consent agreement with CBS that included providing its authenticated subscribers access to Showtime Anytime.

With the new deal, Charter customers that have Showtime as part of their TV tier can now access Showtime movies, original series, sports, documentaries and specials via computers, iPads, iPhones and Android devices, with additional devices to be announced soon.

The agreement also included new online and on-demand availability of programming from CBS and Showtime. Plans are underway to make primetime shows from CBS available on-demand to customers across all Charter markets in the coming months.

On the traditional video front, the agreement covered retransmission consent for CBS-owned stations, as well as the continued carriage of Showtime Networks, CBS Sports Network and Smithsonian Channel on Charter’s cable television platform. Financial terms of the new agreement weren’t released.

“With this agreement, Charter customers can count on us to continue to deliver popular shows and movies from CBS Corp., and we are especially pleased that the expanded agreement includes CBS Primetime VOD and Showtime Anytime throughout our entire footprint,” said Allan Singer, Charter’s senior vice president of programming. “Charter is pleased to start 2013 having successfully concluded this enhanced programming agreement.”
