Gigabit internet service rollouts continue, as Charter Communication has deployed its 1 Gbps (downstream) offering in seven new markets. The latest markets to gain access to Charter’s Spectrum Internet Gig product include:
- Austin
- Charlotte, N.C.
- Cincinnati
- Kansas City, Mo.
- New York City
- Raleigh-Durham, N.C.
- San Antonio
Charter indicated the service is now available to more than 8.8 million customers, and will be rolled out in additional Spectrum markets next year.
The operator first launched its residential DOCSIS 3.1-based 1Gbps internet service in early December on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.
New customers can get gigabit speeds for $104.99 per month, with no data caps or contracts. The service also includes a modem and free in-home WiFi.
The company said it’s also doubling minimum internet speeds in the newly launched markets to 200 Mbps at no extra cost to new and existing Spectrum customers.
