Charter Communications’ subscribers will get to see snowboarder Shaun White’s latest trick in all of its full HD glory thanks to an agreement the cable operator signed with NBC Universal.
While NBC Universal’s future with Comcast bakes at the Justice Department, Charter said its agreement with the programmer’s 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games coverage goes across several platforms.
Charter subscribers can expect extensive coverage on the networks of NBC Universal, including NBC, USA Network, MSNBC, CNBC, Universal HD and NBCOlympics.com. Designed to deliver customers more than 835 hours of Winter Olympic programming, representing the most total hours ever for a Winter Olympics, and the most live hours ever for a Winter Games, Charter will feature the Olympic content across multiple digital platforms, including HD, VOD and high-speed Internet.
Charter said this Olympics, which starts Feb. 12, is the first that will be available entirely in HD. On the data side, Charter’s customers will be able to watch pre-game clips in both HD and SD and more than 100 highlight clips from NBCU once the Olympic Games are underway.
NBCU is also offering up to five full-length daily event replays and more than 30 percent of In-Games VOD in HD.
