Chyron and ConnecTV are partnering on a system that would enable broadcasters to provide their viewers with a multi-screen experience similar to what cable and IPTV providers have been offering over the last couple of years.
The two intend to integrate Chyron’s broadcast graphics platform, called Engage, with the ConnecTV’s second screen app; the combination will allow broadcasters to offer an on-air survey, prompt an instant vote and chat on ConnecTV, the two said.
Users can respond to verbal or graphical prompts in video content via their ConnecTV app; poll results then automatically appear on both screens with dynamic info graphics.
ConnecTV supports interactivity on the iPad, Mac or PC. The company said it will support Android devices and smartphones “soon.” ConnecTV subscribers can see what TV shows their friends are watching, invite them to a “viewing party” and start a real-time conversation. ConnecTV also connects to Facebook, Twitter and email.
