Despite the downturn in the economy, Cisco has made an investment in digital video company Digitalsmiths.
The amount of Cisco’s investment wasn’t disclosed in today’s press release, but Digitalsmiths said it would use the additional funding to further accelerate its product development. In November of last year, Digitalsmiths raised $12 million in second-round financing.
Digitalsmiths is a video indexing and digital content publishing technology provider with customers that include major Hollywood studios, Web video destinations, media companies and advertisers.
The company’s proprietary computer vision-based video indexing, search and interpretation algorithms help content owners and publishers efficiently monetize their digital video content, and help advertisers to automatically target ads to thematically relevant video content.
