Cisco today announced it is buying 1 Mainstream and its cloud-based video for launching live and on-demand OTT video services.
1 Mainstream offers an automated publishing platform that compiles and builds native experiences based on supplied specifications across device platforms including capabilities like advertising, credit card billing, authentication, pause/resume, DRM protection, multi-CDN streaming, and real-time analytics.
Cisco says 1 Mainstream’s platform is already used by major content providers and traditional service providers.
Cisco intends for 1 Mainstream’s technology to complement Cisco’s ‘Infinite’ suite of cloud video entertainment solutions.
1 Mainstream will join Cisco’s Service Provider Video Software and Solutions Cloud Engineering Group, under the leadership of Conrad Clemson, senior vice president and general manager.
The companies expect the acquisition to close in the second quarter of Cisco’s current fiscal year. Financial terms for the transaction were not disclosed.
