Cisco today unveiled its Unified Service Delivery offering, which is a platform that was designed to help service providers build a foundation for cloud services while they transform the delivery of consumer and business applications to any place and device.
The platform combines Cisco’s data center portfolio and Unified Computing architecture with the capabilities of the Internet Protocol Next-Generation Networks (IP NGNs).
With Unified Service Delivery and a next-generation IP network, Cisco said a service provider can deliver video, data and voice services from the data center, enabling it to substantially optimize resources, assure quality, significantly reduce operational costs, and deliver a better, more expansive and more secure virtual experience for their customers.
The Unified Service Delivery extends Cisco’s data center portfolio, and Cisco said it represents a critical step in the company’s service provider Data Center 3.0 strategy that includes helping providers build a foundation for cloud services.
Cisco also announced today that it has updated its Network Magic suite of network management software, which allows consumers to set up, manage and help secure their home networks.
The latest releases (Network Magic Pro, Network Magic Essentials and Network Magic Basic) offer a dynamic, interactive network map, more intuitive navigation, support for more types of networked consumer devices, and simplified access to printer and file sharing from within Network Magic. Cisco said Network Magic Basic will now be included with all Linksys by Cisco wireless routers.
