Clearleap has added support for streaming to tablets, an opportunity already exploited by itaas.
Clearleap has released a set of APIs for its Stream On Demand Web-based TV platform that developers can use to create streaming video applications while leaving it to Clearleap to manage provisioning, billing, authentication, security, parental controls and PIN management across any device.
So, basically, MSOs and other video distributors can design a user interface, and Clearleap takes care of all the back office functions.
Developers can use Stream On Demand’s APIs to integrate personalization, robust search and navigation features, critic and peer reviews, and bookmarking across any connected device while still ensuring quality of service, the company said.
The APIs round out the Stream On Demand offering to allow TV operators full support for any IP-connected device – from next-generation set-top boxes and connected TVs to the growing number of tablets.
Itaas, a leading interactive video application developer, has developed an application for navigating and viewing streaming video content on iPad and other mobile devices via the Clearleap platform. The two companies plan to demonstrate fully functional cable TV applications on an iPad at the 2011 Cable Show taking place in Chicago this June.
“TV operators want both turnkey applications and the flexibility to completely customize the look and feel of the user interface,” said Clearleap co-founder and CEO Braxton Jarratt. “Stream On Demand gives operators the best of both worlds – rapid deployment and complete control over how the content is experienced.”
