Big River Telephone has purchased VoIP equipment from Cedar Point Communications.
The deal is significant for a number of small- and medium-size cable operators that contract with Big River for wholesale communications services.
Big River Telephone is deploying Cedar Point’s Safari C3 Multimedia Switching System. The installation will help the company expedite its planned evolution to the new network architectures, which include PacketCable 2.0 and IMS.
“Small- and medium-size operators understand the financial value of communications services but often find it challenging to assemble the resources and expertise necessary to deliver a high-quality product,” said Kevin Cantwell, president of Big River Telephone. “By working together with Cedar Point, we are combining our own in-house expertise and the simplicity, reliability and cost-effectiveness of Safari C3 to enable operators to quickly deploy services that are superior to those of incumbent providers.”
Big River provides back-office infrastructure, including billing systems network connectivity for the voice traffic, hosted IP services, support for operations and marketing, and technical support. Big River also provides products such as SIP trunking and teleconferencing.
