The Comcast Media Center has added to Paul Catterson’s portfolio. For eight years, he has been the senior director of broadcast engineering for CMC, and he has been given additional responsibility for managing the operation’s HD video studio.
West Works Studios, formerly Comcast Media Center Production Services, provides HD (and 3-D) production studios, video/audio edit suites, advanced motion graphics, streaming capabilities and an onsite satellite/fiber teleport for content distribution. The studio has served national and local customers throughout the Rocky Mountain region for nearly 20 years.
Prior to joining the CMC, Catterson served as the director of project operations for The Systems Group, a broadcast systems integration and consulting firm in Hoboken, N.J. There, he managed the establishment of dozens of video facilities in the metropolitan New York area, other top markets throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Singapore.
As CMC’s senior director of broadcast engineering, he continues to be responsible for directing the teams that design and build new systems, as well as provide technical support to the origination, production, post-production, dub/encode and interactive operations.
Richard Buchanan, vice president and general manager of content services for CMC, said, “While we have been providing digital video production and post-production services since the early days of digital video, organizing and operating as West Works Studios under Paul’s leadership underscores our focus on serving the video content community and other businesses in need of video production and distribution services.”
