Level 3 strengthened a previous relationship with CNN now that the cable news giant has selected its Managed Video Network Services (MVNS) platform.
CNN will use Level 3’s MVNS in its Atlanta headquarters, as well as augmented fiber capacity from Level 3 for CNN’s New York City studios.
Level 3’s MVNS platform for broadcasters enables point-to-point and point-to-multipoint broadcast video delivery between customer locations via the Level 3 fiber-optic network. The service integrates IP and data services from Level 3 while dynamically allocating and prioritizing bandwidth between different services, giving broadcasters maximum flexibility.
The installation and augment represented the latest expansion in a more than 20-year relationship between Level 3 and CNN. In addition to the Vyvx video backhaul services Level 3 has historically provided, Level 3 has brought CNN’s Atlanta headquarters on-net, giving the broadcaster direct access to Level 3’s Tier 1 IP backbone and Vyvx network.
Level 3’s fiber augment at Time Warner Center in New York City will serve as a complement to the MVNS installation in Atlanta and will expand Level 3’s ability to deliver more video for CNN.
