Scott Widham is leaving his position as CEO of Cobridge Communications to take over as CEO of Alpheus Communications.
According to a story published in the Houston Business Journal, Widham is departing the St. Louis-based headquarters of Cobridge to move to Houston as the new CEO of Alpheus Communications. Widham replaces Paul Hobby as the new CEO of Alpheus.
Last week, The Gores Group, which also owns Cobridge, purchased Alpheus from Genesis Park and El Paso Corp. for an undisclosed sum. Alpheus Communications is one of the largest fiber network and data center operators in Texas. The Gores Group said it intended to combine Alpheus with First Communications, an existing Gores portfolio company.
Prior to Cobridge, Widham was co-CEO of Broadwing Communications, which was acquired by Level 3 in 2007. Prior to joining Broadwing, Widham was the founder and CEO of Capital Cable, an MSO that owned cable systems across the U.S. and in Latin America before it was acquired by Charter.
Last year, Cobridge bought 36 systems in seven states from Charter Communications. And Cobridge sold two of those systems to Knology earlier this year.
As to the new CEO of Cobridge, a spokesman for Cobridge said the company was currently working on the final details of the transition and that a press release would be forthcoming.
