Cobridge Communications’ data service in Marshall, Texas, was restored yesterday after a cut in AT&T’s fiber-optic cable Monday night disrupted service for Cobridge and other ISPs in the area.
Prior to the service being restored, Cobridge announced on Wednesday that it would be issuing credits to all of its Internet customers for the time that they lost service.
A spokesman for Cobridge said the company has approximately 14,000 serviceable homes passed for voice and data services in Marshall.
It’s been an eventful year for Cobridge, which purchased 36 systems from Charter Communications last year. In March, a fire caused some Texas communities to lose their Cobridge service, and then last month, tornados caused services to go down in Arkansas and Alabama.
Also this year, Cobridge sold two of its systems to Knology and some cable operations in West Texas to NTS Communications subsidiary Xfone.
On the technology front, last month Cobridge started offering its own digital voice service in some of the former Charter systems, and the operator said it planned on offering other services and features, including more HD channels, to additional markets throughout the remainder of the year.
