PC Telcom, which operates in Phillips County in Colorado, is providing its broadband subscribers with a video service that combines live HDTV and over-the-top (OTT) services.
The service, enabled by Entone’s FusionTV and Connected Home technologies, is eliminating for PC Telcom “the costs and hassles associated with content acquisition,” according to the vendor.
Subscribers are supplied with a network-enabled DVR. Using it, they can tap in to a mixture of off-air programming from local broadcasters and OTT services, including streaming video on-demand from Vudu, all supplemented by social media services such as Facebook, Flickr, Picasa and Twitter.
“To retain and capture broadband customers in this fast-changing marketplace, we needed a solution that we can deploy quickly over our existing broadband network while also allowing us to deliver video at a competitive price,” said Vince Kropp, general manager and CEO at PC Telcom.
“By bundling our existing broadband service with OTT, this takes the market appeal of our broadband service to a whole new level,” Kropp continued. “With FusionTV, we can now provide a richer and more compelling service. Our customers get a cost-effective, personalized viewing experience that they can’t get from satellite or traditional TV services – further strengthening the relationship with our subscribers.”
