Comcast’s rollout of additional high-definition channels continued into the Hartford, Conn., area, where the nation’s largest cable operator recently added 11 HD choices.
According to the West Hartford News, communities that are receiving the additional HD channels included Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Simsbury, West Hartford and Windsor.
Like it has done in other systems, Comcast converted analog channels to digital to make room for more HD and on-demand programming, as well as faster data speeds.
Comcast’s analog-to-digital conversion has been known internally as Project Cavalry ever since the cable operator undertook the initiative several years ago. Comcast has said it hopes to have the conversions completed across 80 percent of its footprint by year’s end.
According to the West Hartford News, the following HD channels were recently added to Comcast’s lineup: Planet Green HD, Showtime Showcase, NECN HD, IFC HD, MGM HD, DisneyXD HD, WE HD, Fuse HD, Lifetime Movie Network HD, ESPNews HD and Biography HD.
