Comcast is adding films from MGM to its Xfinity On Demand digital store lineup, which gives Comcast customers the ability to own and watch movies on various devices, often before the DVD release date.
With the addition of MGM, the digital store, which made its debut in November, now has content available from Twentieth Century Fox, Lionsgate, MGM, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros.
Movies from MGM include “Bull Durham,” “Capote,” “Fargo,” “The Graduate,” and “The Silence of the Lambs.” MGM’s content will debut on Comcast with the 2014 film “RoboCop” on digital HD on May 20.
“Our Xfinity TV customers now have access to hundreds of movies and shows they can own digitally and enjoy anywhere, on any device,” said Michael Schreiber, Senior Vice President of Content Acquisition at Comcast. “Our digital store was a hit with customers from day one, and we expect continued success with the addition of the incredible film and television content from MGM.”
Comcast subscribers can also rent the Blu-ray and DVD movies and store them in the cloud. Purchased titles are added to customers’ on demand menus, which are accessible on the TV, online or via the Xfinity On Demand Purchases app.
The content can be viewed anywhere, anytime, on subscribers’ TV, PC or mobile devices.
