Comcast has added an official extension for Google Chrome that supports more than 50 live TV channels and on demand content from its Xfinity TV Go web portal.
The Chrome feature is the latest enhancement to Comcast’s stable of TV Everywhere products and services that are available to its authenticated subscribers.
“The Chrome extension offers an easy way to see what’s on and tune quickly into live streams on the Xfinity TV Go website,” wrote Dan Baker, senior director, product management at Comcast Cable in a blog post. “With a click of a button, the Xfinity TV Go drop down menu allows you to browse the listing of 53 live channels and seamlessly choose what to watch.”
Comcast Chrome users can access sports, news and entertainment networks, including ESPN, CNN, Disney, USA and TBS. Baker touted the ability to tap into live World Cup coverage via the Chrome extension, or tuning into conversations on Twitter with friends.
In order to enable the extension, Comcast subscribers need to visit the Google Chrome Store and then enter their Xfinity credentials.
Late last year, Comcast updated the Xfinity TV Go app and then launched 35 channels for mobile viewing outside of subscribers’ homes. The live programming is available on Apple and Android devices, as well as on Comcast’s Xfinity web portal.
In March, Comcast added 18 live streaming networks on its Xfinity TV Go app, which included A&E, Bravo, Cooking Channel, DIY Network, E!, Food Network, HGTV, History, mun2, Oxygen, Sprout, Starz, Syfy, TBS, TNT, Travel Channel, truTV and USA Network.
