Comcast said it is building a data center in Hillsboro, OR, which the company said will provide support for video, Internet and phone services for Oregon and southwest Washington customers.
The company has a headend and a large sales center in the nearby town of Beaverton, a suburb of Portland.
Construction on the Hillsboro data center is already in progress, the company said.
Comcast also opened a new Xfinity store in Hillsboro, which the company said was its fifth in the region.
Approximately 2,000 employees work at Comcast throughout Oregon and southwest Washington, including nearly 650 local customer service representatives based in the company’s Beaverton Sales Center of Excellence, and 600 technicians who install and repair XFINITY Video, Internet, Voice and home services and Comcast Business services.
“We appreciate Comcast opening a new store in Hillsboro which will provide more convenient customer service to our residents. We welcome all business investments into our city,” said Hillsboro Mayor, Jerry Willey.
