Comcast Business is incorporating federal agencies into its growth strategy, announcing Monday the creation of a new dedicated business unit targeting U.S. Government and Public Sector organizations.
The segment is led by Kenneth Folderauer, Comcast Business’ recently-appointed VP of federal government sales, who in addition to sales, is responsible for the unit’s go-to-market strategy and will oversee development of a U.S. public sector-focused sales channel.
Folderauer comes from Oracle, where he led the company’s National Security Group’s Communications Services Division, with a focus on serving global communications needs for the federal government. Prior to that he was CEO and president of BT Federal. While under Folderauer’s leadership, BT won a contract role on GSA’s $50 billion EIS government-wide contract. AT&T and Verizon were recently authorized to operate under the contract, along with CenturyLink.
Folderauer previously held positions at Time Warner, CenturyLink, Qwest Communication’s Government Services Group and Verizon Communications.
“Since 2006, Comcast Business has continued to steadily move up market from SMB customers to Mid-Market to large enterprise, providing business solutions of all sizes and scale to some of the most influential and largest private brands and critical community pacemakers,” said Bill Stemper, president of Comcast Business, in a statement. “The appointment of Ken Folderauer represents the beginning of our next move: providing communications technologies to government agencies.”
