Comcast today announced the launch of its digital voice service in several Santa Barbara County communities in California.
The communities where Comcast’s Digital Voice service has been launched include Santa Maria, Ballard, Buellton, portions of Lompoc, Los Olivos, Orcutt, portions of Santa Ynez and portions of Solvang.
Comcast had already launched Comcast Digital Voice throughout its remaining California communities, including San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, Chico, Fresno, Merced, Modesto, Stockton and Visalia.
“Comcast is excited to offer the residents of these Santa Barbara County communities the reliable and innovative voice services they want, with Comcast Digital Voice,” said Cristina Villanueva, vice president and general manager for Comcast Santa Barbara. “Our privately managed network serves as a strong foundation for the voice, television and high-speed Internet products of today and tomorrow, and will completely coordinate the home entertainment and communication experience, all on one integrated bill.”
Comcast said during its fourth-quarter earnings report in February that revenue from its digital phone segment rose 45 percent to $731 million (story here). However, the company’s addition of 344,000 digital phone customers was down 44 percent from the amount added in the fourth quarter of 2007.
Last week, Comcast announced that it had passed Qwest as the nation’s third-largest residential phone provider (story here).
