Comcast has hired Devesh Raj as its senior vice president of strategic and financial planning.
In his new job, Raj will help drive the overall growth strategy at both Comcast and NBCUniversal, which includes leading the identification and pursuit of strategic business opportunities, partnerships, alliances, and licensing agreements.
Raj reports Alexander Evans, Comcast’s executive vice president of global corporate development and strategy. He will be based at Comcast’s headquarters in Philadelphia.
“Devesh is an extremely talented and highly respected professional in the technology industry with an impressive track record of identifying opportunities for growth and change,” Evans said. “I am thrilled to welcome him to Comcast, where he will serve as an integral member of our strategy leadership team, drive our long-range planning, and bring new ideas and business concepts to the company.”
Prior to Comcast, Raj spent the past 14 years at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in New York where he served as a senior partner and managing director leading the firm’s telecommunications, media, and technology practice in North America. At BCG, he focused on strategy and assessment for companies and emerging businesses in technology, media, software development, cloud innovations, and customer service transformations.
Raj has PhD in applied physics from Yale University. He serves on the board of trustees for the New York Hall of Science and was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum earlier this year.
