Do people want to order Xfinity TV, Internet and phone services on Amazon? Looks like we’ll soon find out. Consumers can now purchase those Comcast services via an online marketplace at Amazon, the operator reports.
Customer service is looking like a key selling point here.
“Amazon is not only the biggest online retailer and a place where millions of our customers shop every day, but it’s also a brand that’s unrivaled when it comes to customer service,” said Charlie Herrin, EVP of customer experience at Comcast, says.
The marketplace features “easy ordering and simplified pricing,” but deals offered on Amazon are identical to what is available through Comcast’s existing sales channels. However, Xfinity purchases made on Amazon are reportedly supported by a dedicated team of customer service agents who are based in Comcast’s call centers in Spokane, Wash., and Tucson, Ariz.
“These agents have been specifically trained to handle all customer service interactions from sales and billing to installation and follow-up. They will work across all communications channels including phone, email, chat, and social media,” Comcast reports in a press release.
Only new customers can purchase Xfinity products on Amazon. Later this year, Comcast expects to make it available to current customers as well.
