Comcast has promoted Bret Perkins to vice president of external and government affairs. Perkins currently serves as senior director of public policy for Comcast.
“In his decade with the company, Bret has shown tremendous stewardship in managing the company’s public policy initiatives,” said Kyle McSlarrow, president of Comcast/NBCUniversal for Washington, D.C. “From his work managing local government affairs while the company doubled the number of communities we serve, to his efforts in connection with the NBCUniversal transaction, Bret has been vital to our team and its success. As he now takes charge of external affairs for Comcast, we look forward to his leadership in his new role.”
In his new job, Perkins will be responsible for Comcast’s government affairs team in Philadelphia, as well as the company’s outreach efforts to third-party groups. Perkins will report to McSlarrow and Kathy Zachem, senior vice president of regulatory and state legislative affairs.
Since joining Comcast in 2001, Perkins has managed local government affairs while the company has grown from operating 2,500 communities to 6,000 communities. His responsibilities have included implementing the company’s regulatory and legislative initiatives at the local level, managing relationships with state and local intergovernmental associations, developing political strategy, and grassroots communications.
In 2008, Perkins was awarded the NCTA’s Vanguard Award for Young Leadership.
